  5. Cintra Retail consists of a central computer and a series of tills. The tills
  6. are connected to the computer via phone lines which are used to pass sales and
  7. stock data overnight. Tills can be arranged either singly or, for the large
  8. store, in networks of up to five. Cintra Retail works best for retailers with
  9. requirements for between five and fifty tills. Operating in a way which is
  10. tolerant of hardware malfunction, the till system allows continued shopfloor
  11. operation irrespective of faults in parts of the system. The central system
  12. works for the retailer 24 hours a day gathering till data each night, providing
  13. automatic security copies, and processing the data to provide up-to-date
  14. management reports each morning.
